About Nation Family Notices

The Nation Newspaper understand that making the final arrangements for a departed loved one can be very difficult and painful. To make this process a little easier, we have summarized the various options available for you to share important information and memories with family, friends and colleagues.

All Family Notices published in The Nation Newspapers will appear in our on-line Family Notices at no extra charge. This will create a lasting record for easy reference by family and friends and will include a Guestbook facility where visitors can leave messages and words of support for the family.

Death Notices
Death Notices, which are featured in The Nation Classifieds are used to deliver information about the passing and final arrangements of a loved one. These Notices contain detailed information including:

  • Relatives and friends of the deceased
  • Date of death, date of birth (optional)
  • Date, time and location of the funeral service and burial
  • Instructions for the receipt of flowers, or donations to charities
  • Any other special requests or announcements
A Death Notice can also be presented in the form of a simple announcement, which is useful for initially getting the word out that a loved one has passed and that information about the funeral will be forthcoming.

Thank You Notices
Families can show their gratitude for support by publishing Thank You Notices in the print and on-line. These notices simply express a general appreciation to those who have offered their assistance during those trying moments of loss. This kind gesture of saying ‘Thanks’ is usually published a week or two after the funeral.

In Memoriam Displays
Preserving the memories of loved ones past is of significance to many Barbadian families. On the anniversary date, families reflect on the life shared and preserve that legacy by placing a notice both in print and on-line. Poetry and other sentimental words and photographs are used in a fitting tribute to the life lived.
